Basic Chili

 Remember that this is a basic recipe.

 

There are literally tens of thousands of variations (try entering "chili recipe" into your favorite

search engine).

Makes about 1 quart

1 pound Ground chuck

1 medium Onion, diced

2 1/2 Tablespoons Chili powder

1/2 teaspoon Garlic, minced

15 ounce Chili beans

16 ounce Tomatoes, diced

8 ounce Tomato sauce

1/4 cup Green chilies, chopped

Grated sharp cheddar cheese

Brown the beef in a heavy pot. Add the onion and garlic. Cook until just soft. Drain off any

 

excess fat. Add the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for one

 

hour. Serve warm, garnished with cheese.
