Pasta and Beef Salad

1 1/2 lbs cooked beef (leftovers?) sliced into strips 2 inches by 1 inch,
reserved

1 lb penne pasta, cooked in salted water to al dente stage--Dreamfields
1 large garlic bud, finely chopped
1 head Romaine lettuce, chopped
1 medium red bell pepper, cut into 2-inch strips
1/2 medium green bell pepper, chopped fine
1 medium mild onion, sliced vertically, fine
1 pint cherry tomatoes, rinsed, cut in half
1 cup pitted olives--black or green (or some of each), cut in half

Dressing:
3/4 cup Italian dressing
1/8 teaspoon anise flavoring (--just a couple of drops)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon (approx) freshly ground black pepper
4 oz blue cheese, or feta cheese, crumbled
basil and parsley--fresh or dried--to taste--about 1 Tablespoon of the fresh
chopped stuff or a half teaspoon of the dried--fresh tastes better

Mix ingredients in large bowl. Separately mix dressing ingredients and
drizzle over the salad ingredients. Add reserved beef; toss. Serve
immediately. About 4-6 servings as a lunch.
