Chicken Fried Steak With Gravy
This comfort food dish is a favorite at diners
and truck stops.
Serves 4
1 pound Cube Steaks
1 cup Flour
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup Milk
1 Egg, lightly beaten
Oil for pan frying
1/4 to 1/2 inch)
Gravy:
1 cup Milk
2 Tablespoons Flour
Mix the milk and the lightly beaten egg.
Dip the meat first in the seasoned flour,
then the egg mixture and finally back into
the flour.
Add to the hot oil and cook until brown.
Turn and brown the other side.
Drain on paper towel. Drain off all the oil
except
3 Tablespoons.
Whisk in the flour and cook for 3 minutes.
Whisk in the milk and cook for 10 minutes.
Check seasoning.
Serve the warm gravy over the beef. -
